Elements in Environmental Archaeology

John M. Marston, Boston University, Editor

Elements in Environmental Archaeology is a series devoted to environmental archaeology, the discipline that studies human-environmental relationships in the past through the analysis of archaeological materials. The diversity of methods and approaches used in the field make it difficult to find texts that provide sufficient detail for experts or sufficient background and context for learners. This series speaks to both audiences by including Elements that delve deep into specific areas of cutting-edge scholarship, integrate diverse methodological approaches within environmental archaeology, and center on thematic topics and problems of enduring relevance for archaeologists. The series specifically targets the diverse needs of instructors, including Elements devoted to the practice of teaching environmental archaeology, and students, with Elements written for learners as well as professionals. Scholars working within the discipline will find focused methodological texts in their areas of research. Each Element is 20,000-30,000 words in length, including a comprehensive bibliography, rending it an authoritative reference on a focused topic of relevance to environmental archaeologists.
