The upcoming year sees exciting change for Cambridge University Press’s journals line-up. In this blog post is a preview of brand new launch titles, titles that are switching to a fully Open Access model, and changes to how the Journal of Fluid Mechanics is published.

Journal of Fluid Mechanics online-only from 2020

The Journal of Fluid Mechanics will move to online-only publication in 2020.

Going online-only means:

-Accessing all journal content, including JFM Rapids, and JFM Perspectives
-Finding the articles you need easier and more quickly
-Taking advantage of digital innovations

New launches for 2020

Data-Centric Engineering is an Open Access journal run by an international team of distinguished experts and publishes research at the interface of data science and engineering.

Wearable Technologies is an Open Access journal and the first journal dedicated to publishing original research and industrial developments related to wearable devices.

Titles launching in 2019

Data & Policy is dedicated to the potential of data science to address policy challenges. The journal aims to promote a new theory of policy data interactions by publishing work that considers systems of policy and data and how they relate to each other.

Experimental Results is an innovative new open access journal providing researchers with a venue to publish all experimental findings. Publication of valid scientific results as short papers, regardless of their outcome, enables the journal to fundamentally address the growing issues of reproducibility and duplication in the scientific community.

Proceedings of the Design Society: International Conference on Engineering Design. The ICED is a biennial event bringing together design engineers, scientists, and practitioners presenting new design research, methods, and tools.

New publishing partnerships

Founded in 1971, the Canadian Journal of Philosophy has grown into a widely respected philosophy journal with an international reputation, publishing the best work in any area of philosophy in French or English. The Canadian Journal of Philosophy will be published by Cambridge University Press from January 2020.

The European Psychiatric Association is the main association representing psychiatry in Europe. The Association’s activities address the interests of psychiatrists in academia, research, and practice throughout all stages of career development. From 2020 the European Psychiatric Association and Cambridge University Press will work in partnership to publish European Psychiatry through its transition to a Gold OA publication.

Hypatia: A Journal of Feminist Philosophy is a forum for cutting-edge work in feminist philosophy. Since its inception in the mid-1980s, Hypatia has been a catalyst for broadening and refning feminist philosophy as well as an invaluable resource for those who teach in this area. Cambridge University Press will publish Hypatia from January 2020.

From 2020 Cambridge University Press will publish the National Institute Economic Review, the journal of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research. The National Institute of Economic and Social Research is Britain’s longest established independent research institute, founded in 1938. Their mission is to carry out research into the economic and social forces that affect people’s lives and to improve the understanding of those forces and the ways in which policy can bring about change.

From 2020 the Royal Musical Association’s Journal of the Royal Musical Association and the Royal Musical Association Research Chronicle will be published by Cambridge University Press. The Association, founded as the Musical Association in 1874 before becoming the Royal Musical Association in 1944 by command of King George VI, maintains its original mission to encourage and publish information on all subjects connected to music.
