Summary
In 1935 the Roman Catholic publisher, Sheed & Ward, brought out a new discussion of the condition of Europe by Christopher Dawson, Religion and the Modern State. The book itself was produced to a conspicuous standard, even presenting a frontispiece by Eric Gill, a characteristic reflection on words from the Book of Revelation.1
