from Part IV - Wellness Interventions
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 18 September 2020
While wellness is a concept that has no universally accepted definition [1], researchers have been able to determine eight dimensions crucial to wellness: physical, emotional, social, spiritual, intellectual, financial, occupational, and environmental [2]. The physical dimension includes physical health, self-image, body image, and appearance. The notion of “look good – feel good” has been gaining traction, and there is emerging scientific evidence supporting it [3, 4]. This chapter focuses on the popular aesthetic techniques of cosmetic procedures and styling, in addition to how such aesthetic techniques can improve overall wellness during and after recovery from surgical, medical, and psychiatric illness.
