Bilingualism, memory, and language

The current chapter is aimed at providing an overview of the main findings and research areas presented within this volume with an eye toward proposing various research questions and areas of inquiry that emerge from the previous pages. Additionally, several new and emerging areas of research interest, cutting across bilingualism, language, memory, and cognition, are identified that should aid in formulating future questions for novel and insightful investigation. These areas include the study of bilingualism and emotion, the area of bilingualism in infancy, the study of bilingualism and creativity, investigations into the representation of figurative language, and the exploration of the role of scripts in bilingual language processing and memory. These and many other areas of consideration are poised to serve as informed starting points from which new work should emerge within the more general field of bilingualism.
