Summary
In this section, components of research described in previous sections are synthesized as a methodology, Progressive Synthesis (Chapter 15) and some published criticisms of ecological research are reviewed (Chapter 16). Criticisms of ecological research have included concerns over what should be studied, along with concerns of how research should proceed. These criticisms are made from different standpoints that are based on different ideals. Chapter 15 starts by defining the standpoint of Progressive Synthesis on which practical suggestions about methods for ecological research are based.
