Summary

In Chapter 1, I slipped into using the term ‘metabolic pathway’ without much explanation. Metabolic pathways are the roadmap of metabolism. If we wish to understand human metabolism, and how it relates to our daily lives, we will need an understanding of this term; so in this chapter I shall offer a quick guide, and show how our views have changed over the years.
