Volcano World is a website run by the University of North Dakota; its intent is to bring the excitement of volcanology to the general public. You can select a region of volcano and find a good summary of activity, pictures, and other information. The site includes links to many other volcano–related web sites and contains a list of frequently asked questions about volcanoes. URL: http://volcano.und.nodak.edu/

Smithsonian Global Volcanism Program's website includes copies of recent Global Volcanism Network, which contains reports on recent volcanic activity, links to other volcano websites, and a list of frequently asked questions. The URL is http://www.volcano.si.edu/gvp. The Smithsonian Institution's Bulletin of the Global Volcanism Network is also available in print by subscription from the American Geophysical Union, 2000 Florida Avenue NW, Washington DC 20009, USA.

Volcano Listserv: This is the professional volcanologists' email network run by Arizona State University. The network is an invaluable source of information and contacts. An administrator screens messages before sending them to subscribers. People interested in volcanoes may be included in the distribution list, at the discretion of the administrator. Send a message to volcano@asu.edu.

Michigan Technological University's website includes information on some current eruptions and detailed information on some volcanoes including Santa Maria and Fuego in Guatemala, and Pinatubo in the Philippines.
