1 In 1968 Norman R. Bennett and Marguerite Ylvisaker compiled an Index, Volumes I-X, 1958-1967 of the African Studies Bulletin which was published for ASA by the African Studies Center, Boston University, in the format of the Bulletin.

In 1974 Dee Dickman compiled African Studies/Review Index, Volumes XI-XV, 1968-1972. The Bennett and Ylvisaker decennial index contains articles, some less than one page, including many with considerable detail on the Association's business and internal activities, e.g. committee reports, elections, grants, etc. The Dickman index contains a combined subject and author listing with the authors and titles of books reviewed at the end. This current comprehensive index supersedes the above indexes except for news and notes items discussed above of less than one page.
