Abstract

The mechanisms for cultural transmission remain disputable anddifficult to validate through observational field studies alone. Ifcontrolled experimental laboratory investigation reveals that aputative mechanism is demonstrable in the species under study, theninferences that the same mechanism is operating in the fieldobservation are strengthened.
