After ten years of leading the Business and Human Rights Journal, the current Editors-in-Chief team of Surya Deva, Anita Ramasastry and Florian Wettstein are handing over the leadership of the journal.
We are delighted to introduce the new Editors-in-Chief: Nadia Bernaz, David Hess, Nicolás Perrone and Judith Schrempf-Stirling. They will take over in January of 2026.
Nadia Bernaz is Associate Professor at Wageningen University Law Group and Director of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on Corporate Sustainability & Human Rights Law.
“I am eager to serve as one of the new editors-in-chief of BHRJ, and to contribute to shaping the field of business and human rights in the years to come”.
David Hess is the Everett E. Berg Professor of Business Administration and Professor of Business Law at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan.
"Ten years ago, the founders of the Business and Human Rights Journal realized their vision of creating a forum for rigorous scholarly debate on the key issues shaping this growing academic field. I am excited for the opportunity to build on their success and the strong foundation established by the community of BHR scholars who make this journal so special."
Nicolás M. Perrone is a Professor of Economic Law & Director Center for Law, Regulation and Sustainable Economics (CEDRES) at the Escuela de Derecho, Universidad de Valparaíso (Chile).
"The Business and Human Rights Journal plays a vital role in advancing critical scholarship on one of the most pressing issues of our time: how to ensure that global business respects and promotes human rights. I look forward to working with scholars, practitioners, and the editorial team to continue expanding the journal’s impact and relevance in these crucial debates."
Judith Schrempf-Stirling is an Associate Professor of Responsible Management at the Geneva School of Economics and Management, University of Geneva.
"I have followed the trajectory of the Business and Human Rights Journal since its beginning- partly from the inside as the Book Review Editor and from the outside as a contributor and reader. The journal has developed tremendously and pushed the human rights agenda forward. I am excited to work in an interdisciplinary team at the Business and Human Rights Journal. I am committed to stay true to its goals and legacy, all the while maintaining the highest academic standards."
