SWIP-L is an information and discussion list for members of the Society for Women in Philosophy and others who are interested in feminist philosophy. An International Network on Feminist Approaches to Bioethics is being formed in conjunction with the Inaugural Congress of the International Association of Bioethics. The organizers, Anne Donchin and Helen Bequaert Holmes envision a more inclusive theory of bioethics, one that would encompass the experiences of women and other marginalized social groups, examine how the principles that dominate the prevailing discourse may favor those already empowered, create new methodologies, and look closely at the legitimizing function of mainstream bioethics. Plans are to meet at the Congress in Amsterdam (October 5–7, 1992) to determine the scope of future activities. The Congress Secretariat will forward to the organizers the names and addresses of those who circle this network when they register for the Congress. The Society for Analytical Feminism invites submissions for sessions at the 1993 Central Division APA meetings. The Society seeks papers that examine feminist issues by methods broadly construed as analytic, or that discuss the use of analytic methods as applied to feminist issues. Reading time should be about 20 minutes. Papers should be prepared for anonymous review and two copies submitted. Call for Papers - Rereading the Canon: Feminist Interpretations of Simone De Beauvoir edited by Margaret A. Simons. Papers reflecting a diversity of philosophical methodologies and standpoints are sought for an anthology on Beauvoir's philosophy. Are Simone de Beauvoir's texts “out-of-date, male-identified, and just Sartrean anyway”? Is The Second Sex a modernist work rendered obsolete by the postmoderninst critique? Or does Beauvoir have relevance for contemporary feminist philosophy? Call for Papers - Rereading the Canon: Feminist Interpretations of Descartes and Cartesianism. I am seeking feminist and other innovative perspectives on Descartes and Cartesianism. I welcome philosophical, literary, historical, sociological, and interdisciplinary papers, reflections on the impact of feminist studies on traditional readings, and explorations of gender, race, class, and culture. Call for papers for a collection entitled Nexus: Writings on Location, an interdisciplinary anthology drawing on the “New Subjectivity” or “personal,”“narrative,” or “autobiographical” criticism across a range of disciplines. “Women and Texts in Pre-revolutionary France” a conference sponsored by the Department of French, at the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, will be held May 7–9, 1993. The conference will focus on questions related to the subject of French women as producers of texts in pre-revolution-ary France.
