Extract

In 1961 Professor Nils Chritie, Oslo, summarily reviewed Scandinavian criminology for an American sociological journal. At the time only one major systematic textbook and one major anthology were available to Nordic students of scientific criminology in their own languages, one in Danish and one in Swedish. At the same time comparatively few monographs had appeared within the field, while scientific papers and articles on criminological matters and matters concerned with crime policy were mainly published in the now more than 60 years old Scandinavian journal «Nordisk Tidsskrift for Kriminalvidenskab » (N.T.f.K). This journal is still the main forum for Scandinavian criminologists to express themselves on scientific matters.
