Irish Historical Studies: Keith Jeffery Prize

Irish Historical Studies is delighted to announce that beginning in 2021, it will be awarding a prize for the best article submitted by an Early Career Researcher during the calendar year.

The prize will be named after the former I.H.S. editor and chairman of the editorial board, the late Professor Keith Jeffery. 

Conditions for entry:

  • The author will be an Early Career Researcher, within five years (at the time of submission of the article) of the award of a Ph. D.;
  • Entries will be restricted to particular areas of Irish history: in the first instance the prize will be awarded for an article on medieval Irish history (pre-c.1500);
  • Articles entered for the prize will be sent for peer review in the normal way;
  • Depending on the quality of submissions, the prize may not be awarded every year;
  • The prize will consist of €500, plus the choice of €150-worth of CUP books, to be chosen by the winner;
  • Opening date: 1 January 2021; closing date 31 December 2021;
  • The winner will be notified by 1 March 2022;
