JGH ECR INTERNSHIP: 2022
09 Nov 2021 to 11 Dec 2021

The Journal of Global History is delighted to offer an ECR internship for the calendar year of 2022. The successful applicant will have responsibility for maintaining the journal’s social media presence. The post holder will be supported to develop ideas and initiatives of their own.

The internship is a freelance appointment managed by the journal’s publisher, Cambridge University Press, and supported with a £1,000 honorarium to cover the year.

Please send a 2-page CV, and an accompanying letter of no more than 500 words outlining your suitability for the role, to jgh@cambridge.org. Applications should be submitted by 5pm GMT on Friday, December 10.

Duties and responsibilities

The Intern will be expected to contribute to the curation, commissioning, editing of blogs and other content and in the wider digital promotion of JGH. They will be given the freedom to commission (and write) their own posts within the mandate of JGH. Interns are expected to promote JGH and its content regularly on social media (e.g. Twitter @GlobalHistJnl) and to use social media creatively to help generate conversation. While there are no set hours, it is envisaged that the interns should devote about six hours a month to JGH duties.

Eligibility

The successful applicant will be an early career historian, in their final year of their PhD or beyond, and will not normally have a full-time, permanent academic post. The Intern is expected to have a strong pre-existing social media presence and online literacy as well as a willingness to work with the existing editorial team and the journal’s Editorial Board.
