Abstract

Weyl's well-known theorem describing the behaviour of the entropy on the Hugoniot for gasdynamics is extended to magnetohydrodynamics. In so doing, it is pointed out why similar thermodynamical arguments are not easily established for more complicated reacting fluids such as the gasdynamical equations with mass-loading.
