Our systems – temporary disruption

We have implemented additional assurance measures for our systems. As a result, we have suspended some systems and services. Customers may experience temporary disruption.

We are making every effort to minimise any disruption as far as possible and working to get all services back online as quickly as possible.

We’re delighted to announce that Legal Theory will be Gold Open Access from the 2026 volume and that all articles accepted for publication from December 17, 2025 will be ‘open access’; published with a Creative Commons licence and freely available to read online (see the journal’s Open Access Options page for available licence options). We have an OA option for every author: the costs of open access publication will be covered through agreements between the publisher and the author’s institution, payment of APCs for those with third-party funding, or else waived entirely, ensuring every author can publish and enjoy the benefits of OA.

Legal Theory draws contributions not only from academic law, but from a wide range of related disciplines in the humanities and social sciences, including philosophy, political science, economics, history and sociology. Legal Theory publishes work on a broad range of topics, including but not limited to analytical jurisprudence, normative jurisprudence, policy analyses of legal institutions and doctrines, theories of law as a social or cultural phenomenon, and critical perspectives on law and legal institutions.
