Paleobiology is one of the two flagship journals of the Paleontological Society, celebrating 50 years of leading the field in macroevolutionary and macroecological studies of the past. The journal has published some of the seminal papers on key evolutionary and ecological concepts, including but not limited to, exaptation, punctuated equilibria, The Mesozoic Marine Revolution, taxonomic richness through time, and taphonomy.
Paleobiology publishes original contributions of any length dealing with any aspect of biological paleontology. Emphasis is placed on broad biological or paleobiological processes and patterns, including macroevolution, extinction, diversification, speciation, functional morphology, paleobiogeography, phylogeny, paleoecology, molecular paleontology, taphonomy, natural selection and patterns of variation, abundance, and distribution in space and time, among others.
