A sentence on page 1 in the original book review of Mississippian Women (Briggs et al. 2024) misstates the focus of Chapter 3, by Rachel V. Briggs. This chapter on the generative social power of cooking speaks to how pre-Mississippian societies managed the upheavals of contact with Mississippian political structures and accompanying dietary changes.
