A sentence on page 1 in the original book review of Mississippian Women (Briggs et al. Reference Briggs, Harle and Sullivan2024) misstates the focus of chapter 3 by Rachel V. Briggs. This chapter on the generative social power of cooking speaks to how pre-Mississippian societies managed the upheavals of contact with Mississippian political structures and accompanying dietary changes.
