To honor the late Tomi Kushner, CQ invites submissions for a special issue based around the question: “What article did you write because of Tomi Kushner that you wouldn’t have otherwise written?”
As Joseph J. Fins, MD, writes, “It occurred to me that Tomi often brought out the best in many of us and gave us the courage to try something new and even daring. As a writer I felt she had my back as an editor allowed us to take chances. I feel that I published some of my best stuff in CQ because of her, pieces that I think have stood the test of time but would have been rejected when written in other journals because they didn't conform to conventional expectations. And I don't think I am alone in this sentiment. I have heard others say much the same thing …so we can honor Tomi as she would want to be honored; not for what she did but what she allowed others to do.”
Submissions should not exceed 2,500 words and, if needed, can include minimal footnotes.
