Derek Parfit

• Derek Parfit is an Emeritus Senior Research Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford, and Regular Visiting Professor to the Departments of Philosophy of Rutgers, NYU, and Harvard University. His first book, Reasons and Persons, was published by the Oxford University Press in 1984, and his second book On What Matters (two volumes) was published by the same press in 2011.

Grant Gillett

• Grant Gillett is a qualified neurosurgeon and practiced until 2006. He is now a Professor of Medical Ethics at the Bioethics Centre of the Medical School, and a fellow of the Royal Society. He is author of The Mind and its Discontents (2009), Subjectivity and Being Somebody: Human Identity and Neuroethics (2008), Bioethics in the Clinic: Hippocratic Reflections (2004) and over 250 articles in philosophy, bioethics, the philosophy of psychiatry and neuroscience.

James Montmarquet

• James A. Montmarquet is Professor of Philosophy at Tennessee State University, Nashville, Tennessee. He is author of The Idea of Agrarianism, Epistemic Virtue and Doxastic Responsibility, and numerous articles generally concerned with moral and epistemic responsibility.

• JJ. Valberg is the author of The Puzzle of Experience (Oxford UP, 1992), and Dream, Death and the Self (Princeton UP, 2007).

James Alexander

• James Alexander teaches in the Department of Politics, Bilkent University, Ankara. He is the author of Shaw's Controversial Socialism (2009), A Life of Frederick Bulmer, 1865–1941 (2009), ‘Oakeshott on Hegel's “injudicious” use of the word “state” in History of Political Thought (2011), and Oakeshott as Philosopher in The Cambridge Companian to Oakeshott (forthcoming 2012).
