The Leake Cartulary is held at Derbyshire Record Office (D 1005 Z/E1). It was compiled c.1574 for Sir Francis Leake of Sutton, near Chesterfield (d. 1588), and contains extracts from several monastic cartularies relating to estates acquired by his family after the Dissolution. Twelve charters relating to Beauchief abbey's Harewood Grange estate in Beeley are transcribed on pages 39–43. Seven of these documents appear in the abbey's cartulary (164167, 183, 187188). The Leake copies were most probably transcribed from originals, rather than from this cartulary, and contain lists of witnesses and other details omitted there. These omissions have been given in the textual apparatus of the relevant documents printed above.
