This study described the morphology, gill pathology and genetics of Lernaeenicus radiatus from the northwest Atlantic Ocean. The authors reported that this was the first study showing black sea bass, Centropristis striata, as the definitive first host for L. radiatus in this region; however, since publication they have become aware of a previously published reference by Shields (1977) showing this parasite utilizing black sea bass as a first host in the life cycle. In the more southern range of L. radiatus, the closely related rock sea bass, Centropristis philadelphica, was reported as a first host for the parasite by Overstreet (1978).
