Summary

This chapter is written specifically for clinicians working with clients who aspire to transition from a negative body image to positive body image. We share recommendations for the clinician and the client to engage in preparatory work such as incorporating assessments, creating a body image timeline, and identifying specific therapeutic goals. The clinician will learn how to conceptualize and implement positive body image interventions by reviewing current research coupled with anecdotal information from our own clinical practice as psychologists.  The chapter concludes with considerations for future directions related to the clinical practice of positive body image.
