Barium and calcium aluminate powders have been elaborated using chemical methods like coprecipitation, alkoxide polymerization and metalloorganic decomposition. These powders have been successfully used for impregnation of porous tungsten cathodes for use in electronic tubes. Spectroscopic studies on the modification of aluminum s-butoxide reveal that carboxylic acid substitutes OR groups forming preferentially bidentate chelating complexes.

YBa2Cu3O7−x has been synthesized by two chemical ways, one from oxalate coprecipitation, the other one from metalloorganic decomposition. Superconducting properties of the resulting samples have been checked by means of resistivity and magnetic measurements. Low temperature specific heat data allow to propose an explanation to the residual linear term.

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) has been measured on powdered YBa2Cu3O7−δ at 9 GHz and at variable temperature 4.2 K ≤ T ≤ 293 K. The decrease of the mean Landé factor value ḡ from 2.22 to 2.07, between T = 4 K and T = Tc, is ascribed to a hole being transferred from copper to oxygen.

Cordierite and cordierite based glass ceramics are promising materials for electronic packaging. Preparations by organic and inorganic precursors along sol-gel processing are reported. Compared with conventional methods, they show a drastic decrease of the sintering temperatures. A process able to giving better than 95% theoretical density ceramic below 1000°C, with good electronic properties is described.
