2 The capitulum is not included in our measurements of body-length, because it may be retracted, protruded or inclined so as to render the measurement difficult. We measure from a line connecting the scapular protrusions on the scutum (scapulae) to the posterior margin of the body. The greatest width only is given.

The A and D alongside the figures of spiracles denote their orientation on the tick's body A pointing anteriorly, D pointing dorsally.
