Conversation Analysis (CA) is one of the predominant methods for the detailed study of human social interaction. Bringing together thirty-four chapters written by a team of world-renowned experts, this Handbook represents the first comprehensive overview of conversation-analytic methods. Topics include how to collect, manage, and transcribe data; how to explore data in search of possible phenomena; how to form and develop collections of phenomena; how to use different types of evidence to analyze data; how to code and quantify interaction; and how to apply, publish, and communicate findings to those who stand to benefit from them. Each method is introduced clearly and systematically, and examples of CA in different languages and cultures are included, to show how it can be applied in multiple settings. Comprehensive yet accessible, it is essential reading for researchers and advanced students in disciplines such as Linguistics, Sociology, Anthropology, Communication and Psychology.

Summary
Introduction
In September 1981, 36 women walked from Cardiff to the RAF base at Greenham Common in protest against the American government holding nuclear cruise missiles on common land. This marked the beginning of a 19-year protest at Greenham Common.
The Common became home to thousands of women acting in political resistance to the nuclear arms race. In Autumn 2018, The Heritage Lottery Fund South West awarded … a £50k grant to bring this hugely important piece of feminist history and heritage into public access.
With this funding, Scary Little Girls and The Heroine Collective embarked on an 18-month project to interview the women who formed the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp between 1981 and 2000. … It culminated in the largest collection of oral testimonies of the Greenham Women yet collated, digitised and made available to the public. (Scary Little Girls, nd)
So opens one of the webpages associated with the Greenham Women Everywhere project, instigated by Rebecca Mordan of feminist production hub Scary Little Girls, and Kate Kerrow of women’s history online publication, The Heroine Collective. Although their project title drew inspiration from a multi-voiced book from the early days of the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp, one that emphasised the camp’s wider network and legacies (Cook and Kirk, 1983), Rebecca and Kate nonetheless feared that Greenham stories were in danger of being entirely lost from public and activist memory, or replaced by tabloid distortions. They thus wanted not only to recover the voices of Greenham, but also to find creative ways to engage a wider and younger audience. In collaboration with co-worker Vanessa Pini and Greenham woman Jill (Ray) Raymond, and many other individuals and institutions, Rebecca and Kate have produced an online archive of testimonies from Greenham women (Greenham Women Everywhere, 2021). The project has also generated a multimedia touring exhibition; online events (concerts, book readings and theatrical performances); an interactive ‘virtual reality’ website aimed at enabling a new generation to re-imagine life at the camp (Greenham Women Digital, nd); and a book (Kerrow and Mordan, 2021).
Cognitive exploration drives engagement and re-engagement with imaginary worlds, but not spatial exploration as predicted by evolutionary theory

The empirical evidence for exploration underlying the appeal of imaginary worlds is mostly absent or contradictory. Openness, and the cognitive exploration it represents, provides a better account than the overall drive to explore predicted by evolutionary theory. Furthermore, exploration cannot explain why imaginary worlds foster frequent re-engagement.

Objective:
A standardised multi-site approach to manage paediatric post-operative chylothorax does not exist and leads to unnecessary practice variation. The Chylothorax Work Group utilised the Pediatric Critical Care Consortium infrastructure to address this gap.
Methods:Over 60 multi-disciplinary providers representing 22 centres convened virtually as a quality initiative to develop an algorithm to manage paediatric post-operative chylothorax. Agreement was objectively quantified for each recommendation in the algorithm by utilising an anonymous survey. “Consensus” was defined as ≥ 80% of responses as “agree” or “strongly agree” to a recommendation. In order to determine if the algorithm recommendations would be correctly interpreted in the clinical environment, we developed ex vivo simulations and surveyed patients who developed the algorithm and patients who did not.
Results:The algorithm is intended for all children (<18 years of age) within 30 days of cardiac surgery. It contains rationale for 11 central chylothorax management recommendations; diagnostic criteria and evaluation, trial of fat-modified diet, stratification by volume of daily output, timing of first-line medical therapy for “low” and “high” volume patients, and timing and duration of fat-modified diet. All recommendations achieved “consensus” (agreement >80%) by the workgroup (range 81–100%). Ex vivo simulations demonstrated good understanding by developers (range 94–100%) and non-developers (73%–100%).
Conclusions:The quality improvement effort represents the first multi-site algorithm for the management of paediatric post-operative chylothorax. The algorithm includes transparent and objective measures of agreement and understanding. Agreement to the algorithm recommendations was >80%, and overall understanding was 94%.

Summary
A stigmatized identity refers to some socially devalued aspect of a person that (typically) cannot be changed and evokes negative stereotypes, attitudes, and behaviors from others (Quinn & Earnshaw, 2013). With the increase of protective laws, individuals with a stigmatized identity face less formal discrimination than in the past but continue to face substantial subtle and interpersonal discrimination (Ruggs, Martinez, & Hebl, 2011). While the majority of stigma research has focused on visible stigmatized identities, many stigmatized identities are simply not visible. It is this latter category on which the current chapter focuses. Invisible stigmatized identities are devalued aspects that an individual is generally able to conceal from others. Invisible and/or concealable stigmas may include lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer or questioning (LGBTQ+) identities; some disabilities; and multiracial and religious identities. For the remainder of the chapter, we will refer to such identities as “concealable stigmas” or “invisible stigmas.”

Background
Childhood maltreatment is one of the strongest predictors of adulthood depression and alterations to circulating levels of inflammatory markers is one putative mechanism mediating risk or resilience.
AimsTo determine the effects of childhood maltreatment on circulating levels of 41 inflammatory markers in healthy individuals and those with a major depressive disorder (MDD) diagnosis.
MethodWe investigated the association of childhood maltreatment with levels of 41 inflammatory markers in two groups, 164 patients with MDD and 301 controls, using multiplex electrochemiluminescence methods applied to blood serum.
ResultsChildhood maltreatment was not associated with altered inflammatory markers in either group after multiple testing correction. Body mass index (BMI) exerted strong effects on interleukin-6 and C-reactive protein levels in those with MDD.
ConclusionsChildhood maltreatment did not exert effects on inflammatory marker levels in either the participants with MDD or the control group in our study. Our results instead highlight the more pertinent influence of BMI.

OBJECTIVE
To use whole genome sequencing to describe the likely origin of an outbreak of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in a neonatal unit.
DESIGNOutbreak investigation.
SETTINGThe neonatal intensive care unit service of a major obstetric tertiary referral center.
PATIENTSInfants admitted to the neonatal unit who developed P. aeruginosa colonization or infection.
METHODSWe undertook whole genome sequencing of P. aeruginosa strains isolated from colonized infants and from the neonatal unit environment.
RESULTSEighteen infants were colonized with P. aeruginosa. Isolates from 12 infants and 7 environmental samples were sequenced. All but one of the clinical isolates clustered in ST253 and no differences were detected between unmapped reads. The environmental isolates revealed a variety of sequence types, indicating a large diverse bioburden within the unit, which was subsequently confirmed via enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus–polymerase chain reaction typing of post-outbreak isolates. One environmental isolate, obtained from a sink in the unit, clustered within ST253 and differed from the outbreak strain by 9 single-nucleotide polymorphisms only. This information allowed us to focus infection control activities on this sink.
CONCLUSIONSWhole genome sequencing can provide detailed information in a clinically relevant time frame to aid management of outbreaks in critical patient management areas. The superior discriminatory power of this method makes it a powerful tool in infection control.

The effect of processing (homogenization, lyophilization, acid-extraction) meat products on iron uptake from meat combined with uncooked iron-fortified cereal was evaluated using an in vitro digestion/Caco-2 cell model. Beef was cooked, blended to create smaller meat particles, and combined with electrolytic iron-fortified infant rice cereal. Chicken liver was cooked and blended, lyophilized, or acid-extracted, and combined with FeSO4-fortified wheat flour. In the beef–cereal combination, Caco-2 cell iron uptake, assessed by measuring the ferritin formed by cells, was greater when the beef was blended for the greatest amount of time (360 s) compared with 30 s (P < 0·05). Smaller liver particles (blended for 360 s or lyophilized) significantly enhanced iron uptake compared to liver blended for 60 s (P < 0·001) in the liver–flour combination. Compared to liver blended for 60 s, acid-extraction of liver significantly enhanced iron uptake (P = 0·03) in the liver–flour combination. Homogenization of beef and homogenization, lyophilization, or acid-extraction of chicken liver increases the enhancing effect of meat products on iron absorption in iron-fortified cereals.

The formation of 10-nm ZnO nanopyramids using a simple synthetic route has been isolated from the reaction of Zn(OAc)2·2H2O in 1,4-butanediol followed by ripening at 90 °C. This was accomplished by establishing control over the Ostwald ripening process through the use of a carboxylic acid specific adsorbate. Using a variety of analytical methods, it is proposed that the carboxylate groups in the acetate precursor stabilize the {101} habit planes, creating septahedral shapes or nanopyramids. Particle assembly into crystallographically oriented dimers was observed with high specificity, and the association mechanism is suggested to relate to the crystal polarity and the variation in specific adsorption of the carboxylic acid to the surface facets. These materials are a candidate for biological labeling applications in living cells.
