The R software (R Core Team, 2013) is a widely used, powerful statistical environment implementing most of the known statistical methods both in the univariate and multivariate realm. Given its widespread use, there are plentiful brief introductions as well as detailed treatments of the work with this software, and we have no ambition to add to this already bewildering range. For a quick start, however, just to be able to execute in R the tasks illustrated in this book, we provide a simple tutorial on R that you can download from the following URL address:

The above document also contains up-to-date links to more extensive online resources as well as recommendations for referential textbooks that cover either general R use or its use for a particular group of statistical methods.
