Dendroidal sets have been introduced as a combinatorial model for homotopy coherent operads. We introduce the notion of fully Kan dendroidal sets and show that there is a model structure on the category of dendroidal sets with fibrant objects given by fully Kan dendroidal sets. Moreover we show that the resulting homotopy theory is equivalent to the homotopy theory of connective spectra.

We show that for a smooth, projective variety X defined over a number field K, cyclic homology with coefficients in the ring , provides the right theory to obtain, using λ-operations, Serre's archimedean local factors of the complex L-function of X as regularized determinants.

In Hazrat gave a K-theoretic invariant for Leavitt path algebras as graded algebras. Hazrat conjectured that this invariant classifies Leavitt path algebras up to graded isomorphism, and proved the conjecture in some cases. In this paper, we prove that a weak version of the conjecture holds for all finite essential graphs.

Twisted K-theory on a manifold X, with twisting in the 3rd integral cohomology, is discussed in the case when X is a product of a circle and a manifold M. The twist is assumed to be decomposable as a cup product of the basic integral one form on and an integral class in H2(M,ℤ). This case was studied some time ago by V. Mathai, R. Melrose, and I.M. Singer. Our aim is to give an explicit construction for the twisted K-theory classes using a quantum field theory model, in the same spirit as the supersymmetric Wess-Zumino-Witten model is used for constructing (equivariant) twisted K-theory classes on compact Lie groups.

We decompose θ(M), the twisted index obstruction to a positive scalar curvature metric for closed oriented manifolds with spin universal cover, into a pairing of a twisted K-homology with a twisted K-theory class and prove that θ(M) does not vanish if M is a closed orientable enlargeable manifold with spin universal cover.

Motivated by traces of matrices and Euler characteristics of topological spaces, we expect abstract traces in a symmetric monoidal category to be “additive”. When the category is “stable” in some sense, additivity along cofiber sequences is a question about the interaction of stability and the monoidal structure.

May proved such an additivity theorem when the stable structure is a triangulation, based on new axioms for monoidal triangulated categories. in this paper we use stable derivators instead, which are a different model for “stable homotopy theories”. We define and study monoidal structures on derivators, providing a context to describe the interplay between stability and monoidal structure using only ordinary category theory and universal properties. We can then perform May's proof of the additivity of traces in a closed monoidal stable derivator without needing extra axioms, as all the needed compatibility is automatic.

In this paper, we establish an infinitesimal equivariant index formula in the noncommutative geometry framework using Greiner's approach to heat kernel asymptotics. An infinitesimal equivariant index formula for odd dimensional manifolds is also given. We define infinitesimal equivariant eta cochains, prove their regularity and give an explicit formula for them. We also establish an infinitesimal equivariant family index formula and introduce the infinitesimal equivariant eta forms as well as compare them with the equivariant eta forms.

In this paper we introduce new local symbols, which we call 4-function local symbols. We formulate reciprocity laws for them. These reciprocity laws are proven using a new method - multidimensional iterated integrals. Besides providing reciprocity laws for the new 4-function local symbols, the same method works for proving reciprocity laws for the Parshin symbol. Both the new 4-function local symbols and the Parshin symbol can be expressed as a finite product of newly defined bi-local symbols, each of which satisfies a reciprocity law. The K-theoretic variant of the first 4-function local symbol is defined in the Appendix. It differs by a sign from the one defined via iterated integrals. Both the sign and the K-theoretic variant of the 4-function local symbol satisfy reciprocity laws, whose proof is based on Milnor K-theory (see the Appendix). The relation of the 4-function local symbols to the double free loop space of the surface is given by iterated integrals over membranes.

Let (A, ) be a local hypersurface with an isolated singularity. We show that Hochster's theta pairing θA vanishes on elements that are numerically equivalent to zero in the Grothendieck group of A under the mild assumption that Spec A admits a resolution of singularities. This extends a result by Celikbas-Walker. We also prove that when dimA = 3, Hochster's theta pairing is positive semi-definite. These results combine to show that the counter-example of Dutta-Hochster-McLaughlin to the general vanishing of Serre's intersection multiplicity exists for any three dimensional isolated hypersurface singularity that is not a UFD and has a desingularization. We also show that, if A is three dimensional isolated hypersurface singularity that has a desingularization, the divisor class group is finitely generated torsion-free. Our method involves showing that θA gives a bivariant class for the morphism Spec (A/) → Spec A.

For any perfect field k a triangulated category of K-motives is constructed in the style of Voevodsky's construction of the category . To each smooth k-variety X the K-motive is associated in the category and

where pt = Spec(k) and K(X) is Quillen's K-theory of X.

If is an integral model of a smooth curve X over a global field k, there is a localization sequence comparing the K-theory of and X. We show that K1 () injects into K1(X) rationally, by showing that the previous boundary map in the localization sequence is rationally a surjection, for X of “GL2 type” and k of positive characteristic not 2. Examples are given to show that the relative G1 term can have large rank. Examples of such curves include non-isotrivial elliptic curves, Drinfeld modular curves, and the moduli of -elliptic sheaves of rank 2.

We present a new proof of Anderson's result that the real K-theory spectrum is Anderson self-dual up to a fourfold suspension shift; more strongly, we show that the Anderson dual of the complex K-theory spectrum KU is C2-equivariantly equivalent to Σ4KU, where C2 acts by complex conjugation. We give an algebro-geometric interpretation of this result in spectrally derived algebraic geometry and apply the result to calculate 2-primary Gross-Hopkins duality at height 1. From the latter we obtain a new computation of the group of exotic elements of the K(1)-local Picard group.

We prove that the K-group of reciprocity functors, defined by F. Ivorra and the first author, vanishes over a perfect field as soon as one of the reciprocity functors is and one is an abelian variety.

Under the assumption that the base field k has characteristic 0, we prove a formula for the push-forward class of Bott-Samelson resolutions in the algebraic cobordism ring of the flag bundle. We specialise our formula to connective K-theory providing a geometric interpretation to the double β-polynomials of Fomin and Kirillov by computing the fundamental classes of schubert varieties. As a corollary we obtain a Thom-Porteous formula generalising those of the Chow ring and of the Grothendieck ring of vector bundles.

Calmès and Fasel have shown that the twisted Witt groups of split flag varieties vanish in a large number of cases. For flag varieties over algebraically closed fields, we sharpen their result to an if-and-only-if statement. In particular, we show that the twisted Witt groups vanish in many previously unknown cases. In the non-zero cases, we find that the twisted total Witt group forms a free module of rank one over the untwisted total Witt group, up to a difference in grading.

Our proof relies on an identification of the Witt groups of flag varieties with the Tate cohomology groups of their K-groups, whereby the verification of all assertions is eventually reduced to the computation of the (twisted) Tate cohomology of the representation ring of a parabolic subgroup.

In this paper, we study Poisson (co)homology of a Frobenius Poisson algebra. More precisely, we show that there exists a duality between Poisson homology and Poisson cohomology of Frobenius Poisson algebras, similar to that between Hochschild homology and Hochschild cohomology of Frobenius algebras. Then we use the non-degenerate bilinear form on a unimodular Frobenius Poisson algebra to construct a Batalin-Vilkovisky structure on the Poisson cohomology ring making it into a Batalin-Vilkovisky algebra.

We prove twisted homological stability with polynomial coefficients for automorphism groups of free nilpotent groups of any given class. These groups interpolate between two extremes for which homological stability was known before, the general linear groups over the integers and the automorphism groups of free groups. The proof presented here uses a general result that applies to arbitrary extensions of groups, and that has other applications as well.

We show that filtered K-theory is equivalent to a substantially smaller invariant for all real-rank-zero C*-algebras with certain primitive ideal spaces—including the infinitely many so-called accordion spaces for which filtered K-theory is known to be a complete invariant. As a consequence, we give a characterization of purely infinite Cuntz–Krieger algebras whose primitive ideal space is an accordion space.
