This is a list of those who stood for election and were not returned as MPs, with the constituency and the date. It includes those rejected in an electoral contest and those who were deemed not to have been elected after a double return was decided by the House; but it does not include those whose elections were declared void, or candidates where the double return was not resolved. Those marked with an asterisk were elected at other times and places between 1640 and 1660. As in the preliminaries of biographies, dates of general elections are given as 1640 (Apr.), 1640 (Nov.), 1654, 1656, 1659. Other dates (month and year) indicate by-elections.
