The aim of this contribution is to present an innovative approach to the use of Open Access AI in teaching the Classical era at high school and university level. The paper first explains the growing interest in AI technology and its main applications in the subjects of philology, history and other related areas. The following sections show the different steps of the proposal, which uses the Midjourney program, as well as its pros and cons.
All-optical nonlinear chiral ultrafast magnetization dynamics driven by circularly polarized magnetic fields

Ultrafast laser pulses provide unique tools to manipulate magnetization dynamics at femtosecond timescales, where the interaction of the electric field usually dominates over the magnetic field. Recent proposals using structured laser beams have demonstrated the possibility to produce regions where intense oscillating magnetic fields are isolated from the electric field. In these conditions, we show that technologically feasible tesla-scale circularly polarized high-frequency magnetic fields induce purely precessional nonlinear magnetization dynamics. This fundamental result not only opens an avenue in the study of laser-induced ultrafast magnetization dynamics, but also sustains technological implications as a route to promote all-optical non-thermal magnetization dynamics both at shorter timescales – towards the sub-femtosecond regime – and at THz frequencies.

The aim of this contribution is to provide a new methodology regarding the use of photogrammetry and 3D modelling in the classroom. By means of a practicum taught at Complutense University of Madrid and a survey conducted afterwards, we show the different steps of the activity, as well as the reception of the students, who learnt to elaborate 3D figures.

Darwin's frogs Rhinoderma darwinii and Rhinoderma rufum are the only known species of amphibians in which males brood their offspring in their vocal sacs. We propose these frogs as flagship species for the conservation of the Austral temperate forests of Chile and Argentina. This recommendation forms part of the vision of the Binational Conservation Strategy for Darwin's Frogs, which was launched in 2018. The strategy is a conservation initiative led by the IUCN SSC Amphibian Specialist Group, which in 2017 convened 30 governmental, non-profit and private organizations from Chile, Argentina and elsewhere. Darwin's frogs are iconic examples of the global amphibian conservation crisis: R. rufum is categorized as Critically Endangered (Possibly Extinct) on the IUCN Red List, and R. darwinii as Endangered. Here we articulate the conservation planning process that led to the development of the conservation strategy for these species and present its main findings and recommendations. Using an evidence-based approach, the Binational Conservation Strategy for Darwin's Frogs contains a comprehensive status review of Rhinoderma spp., including critical threat analyses, and proposes 39 prioritized conservation actions. Its goal is that by 2028, key information gaps on Rhinoderma spp. will be filled, the main threats to these species will be reduced, and financial, legal and societal support will have been achieved. The strategy is a multi-disciplinary, transnational endeavour aimed at ensuring the long-term viability of these unique frogs and their particular habitat.

Carbon steel has gained wide applications as a structural material due to its combination of strength, ductility, and low cost; in fact, this material has been studied as one of the proposals for the manufacture of radioactive waste containers in countries such as Japan, France, and the United States. One of the biggest problems of carbon steel is its susceptibility to general corrosion, while copper and its alloys, despite not having high mechanical resistance, are materials with good corrosion resistance properties. This work evaluates the reliability of protective films developed from copper nanoparticles to improve the corrosion resistance of carbon steel plates. The nanoparticles were synthesized by a chemical reduction method using copper sulphate (CuSO4) as a precursor, sodium borohydride (NaBH4) as a reducing agent, and citric acid as an antioxidant. These nanoparticles were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), as well as by Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) before and after being treated with citric acid. Finally, they were deposited on the carbon steel surface by Electrophoretic Deposition using a current of 0.5 mA/cm2. The protective capacity of the films developed from copper nanoparticles was evaluated by means of Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy and Linear Polarization Resistance techniques in 0.1 M HCl solution.

The Bipolar Spectrum Diagnostic Scale (BSDS) is widely validated and used as a screening tool for bipolar disorder. However, there is no BSDS validated version for its use in Mexican population. The aim of the present study was to examine the BSDS diagnostic capacity, and to evaluate its criterion validity and internal consistency for its use in Mexican psychiatric patients. We recruited 200 patients who attended the psychiatric outpatient service of a Mental Health Specialized Hospital and were screened for bipolar disorder using BSDS. To determine the cut-off point, sensitivity and specificity, we used the SCID–I diagnosis as the gold standard in 100 participants with bipolar disorder and 100 with major depression. Internal consistency according to Cronbach’s coefficient alpha was .81. The area under ROC curve for the overall discriminability of BSDS against the criterion of SCID–I for bipolar disorder was .90. Finally, a cut-off value of 12 reached the most stable sensitivity and specificity, with predictive powers higher than .80. In conclusion, the properties of the scale including internal consistency, sensitivity and specificity, make of BSDS a valuable instrument for screening bipolar disorder in Mexican psychiatric population.

Since work organizations became the subject of scientific research, how to operationalize and measure dimensions of work design has been an issue, mainly due to concerns about internal consistency and factor structure. In response, Morgeson and Humphrey (2006) built the Work Design Questionnaire –WDQ–, an instrument that identifies and measures these dimensions in different work and organizational contexts. This paper presents the instruent’s adaptation into Spanish using reliability and validity analysis and drawing on a sample of 1035 Spanish workers who hold various jobs in an array of occupational categories. The total instrument’s internal consistency was Cronbach’s alpha of .92 and the various scales’ reliability ranged from .70 to .96, except for three dimensions. There was initially a difference in the comparative fit of the two versions’ factor structures, but the model with 21 work characteristics (motivational -task and knowledge-, social, and work context) showed the highest goodness of fit of the various models tested, confirming previous results from the U.S. version as well as adaptations into other languages and contexts. CFA results indicated goodness of fit of factor configurations corresponding to each of the four major categories of work characteristics, with CFI and TLI around .90, as well as SRMR and RMSEA below .08. Thus it brings to the table a reliable, valid measure of work design with clear potential applications in research as well as professional practice, applications that could improve working conditions, boost productivity, and generate more personal and professional development opportunities for workers.
Oxide Film Characterization after the crack propagation in CT specimens of AISI 304L under Hydrogen Water Chemistry Condition.

Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) in a general term describing stressed alloy fracture that occurs by crack propagation in specifically environments, and has the appearance of brittle fracture, yet it can occur in ductile materials like AISI 304L used in internal components of Boiling Water Reactors (BWR). The high levels of oxygen and hydrogen peroxide generated during an operational Normal Water Condition (NWC) promotes an Electrochemical Corrosion Potential (ECP), enough to generate SCC in susceptible materials. Changes in water chemistry have been some of the main solutions for mitigate this degradation mechanism, and one of these changes is reducing the ECP by the injection of Hydrogen in the feed water of the reactor; this addition moves the ECP below a threshold value, under which the SCC is mitigated (-230mV vs SHE). This paper shows the characterization by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Raman Spectroscopy of the oxide film formed in to a crack propagated during a Rising Displacement Test method (RDT), on Hydrogen Water Chemistry (HWC) conditions: 20 ppb O2, 125 ppb H2, P=8MPa, T=288°C, using a CT specimen of austenitic stainless steel AISI 304L sensitized. The characterization allowed identifying the magnetite formation since an incipient way, until very good formed magnetite crystals.

The principles of Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) are supported in the behavior of the oxide film formed into a crack; in fact the active dissolution of metal atoms after a film rupture and until fill repassivation is the base of slip dissolution model which is a good model to justified the crack tip advance in stainless steels (SS) used in vessel internal components for the nuclear industry. This paper shows the analyzed made at the oxide film formed on samples of 304L SS sensitized and non sensitized, under autoclave conditions (288°C, 8MPa) with and without crevice geometric formation, using SEM, XRD and Raman Spectra.
The crevice and no crevice condition allow establish the difference of an oxide formed on a free surface (no crevice) and the oxide formed on the wall in a crack (crevice); the chemical and physical properties of oxide film can alter the mechanism and kinetics of SCC process, so the difference between these two conditions will give more information about the behavior of the oxide film.

Oxygen consumption and ammonia excretion of Penaeus setiferus,P. schmitti,P. duorarum and P. notialis postlarvae fed purified test diets: effect of protein level on substrate metabolism

Taking into account that the relationship between metabolic substrate and the characteristics of the diet is essential for understanding the mechanisms associated with the use of the components of a certain food substance, the aim of this study was to examine the metabolic substrate used by Penaeus setiferus,P. schmitti, P. duorurum and P. notialis postlarvae PL 35–40 (35–40 days after metamorphosis) fed purified diets with different levels of proteins (40, 50, 60 and 65%). Oxygen consumption and ammonia excretion were measured in animals in intermoult which had been acclimatized to each diet over a minimum of 5 days. Measurements were taken on fasted (24 h) and fed animals. Oxygen consumption of fasting animals increased with a rise in the proteins of the diet in the four species. In the fed animals, this tendency was observed in P. setiferus and P. notialis, while in P. schmitti and P. duorarum oxygen consumption was a weak relationship, decreasing or increasing with a diet with 50% protein. Both in fasting and feeding animals, the ammonia excretion increased with the increase in proteins in the diet. The O : N atomic ratios of the four species decreased (between 30 and 3), according to increase in dietetic protein : energy ratio, (10.4 to 17.0 mg protein/kcal). The highest value of O : N ratio was observed in P. setiferus (40% of protein requirement, O : N = 24 to 34) and lowest in P. schmitti (60% of protein requirement, O : N = 4 to 11), with intermediate values in P. duorarum and P. notialis (50% protein requirement, O : N = 8 to 14 and 13 to 19, respectively). These results support previous research that showed that the omnivorous-herbivorous species, like P. setiferus, use protein-lipids normally as energy source in contrast to omnivorous-carnivorous species such as P. duorarum which use protein preferentially as a source of energy.
