Let p be an odd prime and let G be a non-abelian finite p-group of exponent p2 with three distinct characteristic subgroups, namely 1, Gp and G. The quotient group G/Gp gives rise to an anti-commutative 𝔽p-algebra L such that the action of Aut (L) is irreducible on L; we call such an algebra IAC. This paper establishes a duality G ↔ L between such groups and such IAC algebras. We prove that IAC algebras are semisimple and we classify the simple IAC algebras of dimension at most 4 over certain fields. We also give other examples of simple IAC algebras, including a family related to the m-th symmetric power of the natural module of SL(2, 𝔽).

We describe all degenerations of three-dimensional anticommutative algebras $\mathfrak{A}\mathfrak{c}\mathfrak{o}\mathfrak{m}_{3}$ and of three-dimensional Leibniz algebras $\mathfrak{L}\mathfrak{e}\mathfrak{i}\mathfrak{b}_{3}$ over $\mathbb{C}$. In particular, we describe all irreducible components and rigid algebras in the corresponding varieties.

We introduce the concept of a $\{\unicode[STIX]{x1D70E},\unicode[STIX]{x1D70F}\}$-Rota–Baxter operator, as a twisted version of a Rota–Baxter operator of weight zero. We show how to obtain a certain $\{\unicode[STIX]{x1D70E},\unicode[STIX]{x1D70F}\}$-Rota–Baxter operator from a solution of the associative (Bi)Hom-Yang–Baxter equation, and, in a compatible way, a Hom-pre-Lie algebra from an infinitesimal Hom-bialgebra.

We investigate products of certain double cosets for the symmetric group and use the findings to derive some multiplication formulas for the $q$-Schur superalgebras. This gives a combinatorialization of the relative norm approach developed in Du and Gu (A realization of the quantum supergroup$\mathbf{U}(\mathfrak{g}\mathfrak{l}_{m|n})$, J. Algebra 404 (2014), 60–99). We then give several applications of the multiplication formulas, including the matrix representation of the regular representation and a semisimplicity criterion for $q$-Schur superalgebras. We also construct infinitesimal and little $q$-Schur superalgebras directly from the multiplication formulas and develop their semisimplicity criteria.

Let $K$ be a (non-archimedean) local field and let $F$ be the function field of a curve over $K$ . Let $D$ be a central simple algebra over $F$ of period $n$ and $\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}\in F^{\ast }$ . We show that if $n$ is coprime to the characteristic of the residue field of $K$ and $D\cdot (\unicode[STIX]{x1D706})=0$ in $H^{3}(F,\unicode[STIX]{x1D707}_{n}^{\otimes 2})$ , then $\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}$ is a reduced norm from $D$ . This leads to a Hasse principle for the group $\operatorname{SL}_{1}(D)$ , namely, an element $\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}\in F^{\ast }$ is a reduced norm from $D$ if and only if it is a reduced norm locally at all discrete valuations of $F$ .

We generate an algebra on blood phenotypes with multiplication based on the human ABO-blood group inheritance pattern. We assume that gametes are not chosen randomly during meiosis. We investigate some of the properties of this algebra, namely, the set of idempotents, lattice of ideals and the associative enveloping algebra.

An interchange ring, $(R,+,\bullet )$ , is an abelian group with a second binary operation defined so that the interchange law $(w+x)\bullet (y+z)=(w\bullet y)+(x\bullet z)$ holds. An interchange near ring is the same structure based on a group which may not be abelian. It is shown that each interchange (near) ring based on a group $G$ is formed from a pair of endomorphisms of $G$ whose images commute, and that all interchange (near) rings based on $G$ can be characterized in this manner. To obtain an associative interchange ring, the endomorphisms must be commuting idempotents in the endomorphism semigroup of $G$ . For $G$ a finite abelian group, we develop a group-theoretic analogue of the simultaneous diagonalization of idempotent linear operators and show that pairs of endomorphisms which yield associative interchange rings can be diagonalized and then put into a canonical form. A best possible upper bound of $4^{r}$ can be given for the number of distinct isomorphism classes of associative interchange rings based on a finite abelian group $A$ which is a direct sum of $r$ cyclic groups of prime power order. If $A$ is a direct sum of $r$ copies of the same cyclic group of prime power order, we show that there are exactly ${\textstyle \frac{1}{6}}(r+1)(r+2)(r+3)$ distinct isomorphism classes of associative interchange rings based on $A$ . Several examples are given and further comments are made about the general theory of interchange rings.

Symmetry groups of Lie algebras and superalgebras constructed from (∈, δ)-Freudenthal-Kantor triple systems have been studied. In particular, for a special (ε, ε)-Freudenthal–Kantor triple, it is the SL(2) group. Also, the relationship between two constructions of Lie algebras from structurable algebras has been investigated.

Meta-centralizers of non-locally compact group algebras are studied. Theorems about their representations with the help of families of generalized measures are proved. Isomorphisms of group algebras are investigated in relation with meta-centralizers.

A basis ${\mathcal{B}}=\{u_{i}\}_{i\in I}$ of a commutative or anticommutative algebra $\mathfrak{C},$ over an arbitrary base field $\mathbb{F}$, is called multiplicative if for any $i,j\in I$ we have that $u_{i}u_{j}\in \mathbb{F}u_{k}$ for some $k\in I$. We show that if a commutative or anticommutative algebra $\mathfrak{C}$ admits a multiplicative basis then it decomposes as the direct sum $\mathfrak{C}=\bigoplus _{j}\mathfrak{i}_{j}$ of well-described ideals each one of which admits a multiplicative basis. Also the minimality of $\mathfrak{C}$ is characterised in terms of the multiplicative basis and it is shown that, under a mild condition, the above direct sum is indexed by the family of its minimal ideals admitting a multiplicative basis.

A Schunck class $\mathfrak{H}$ is determined by the class $\mathfrak{X}$ of primitives contained in $\mathfrak{H}$. We give necessary and sufficient conditions on $\mathfrak{X}$ for $\mathfrak{H}$ to be a saturated formation.

Let 𝔉 be a saturated formation of soluble Leibniz algebras. Let K be an 𝔉-projector and A/B a chief factor of the soluble Leibniz algebra L. It is well known that if A/B is 𝔉-central, then K covers A/B. I prove the converse: if K covers A/B, then A/B is 𝔉-central.

A Lie algebra over a field of characteristic 0 splits over its soluble radical and all complements are conjugate. I show that the splitting theorem extends to Leibniz algebras but that the conjugacy theorem does not.

The paper deals with the classification of Leibniz central extensions of a filiform Lie algebra. We choose a basis with respect to which the multiplication table has a simple form. In low-dimensional cases isomorphism classes of the central extensions are given. In the case of parametric families of orbits, invariant functions (orbit functions) are provided.

Let 𝒰(𝔯(1)) denote the enveloping algebra of the two-dimensional nonabelian Lie algebra 𝔯(1) over a base field 𝕂. We study the maximal abelian ad-nilpotent (mad) associative subalgebras and finite-dimensional Lie subalgebras of 𝒰(𝔯(1)). We first prove that the set of noncentral elements of 𝒰(𝔯(1)) admits the Dixmier partition, 𝒰(𝔯(1))−𝕂=⋃ 5i=1Δi, and establish characterization theorems for elements in Δi, i=1,3,4. Then we determine the elements in Δi, i=1,3 , and describe the eigenvalues for the inner derivation ad Bx,x∈Δi, i=3,4 . We also derive other useful results for elements in Δi, i=2,3,4,5 . As an application, we find all framed mad subalgebras of 𝒰(𝔯(1))and determine all finite-dimensional nonabelian Lie algebras that can be realized as Lie subalgebras of 𝒰(𝔯(1)) . We also study the realizations of the Lie algebra 𝔯(1)in 𝒰(𝔯(1))in detail.

In this paper we discuss the simplicity criteria of (−1,−1)-Freudenthal Kantor triple systems and give examples of such triple systems, from which we can construct some Lie superalgebras. We also show that we can associate a Jordan triple system to any (ε,δ)-Freudenthal Kantor triple system. Further, we introduce the notion of δ-structurable algebras and connect them to (−1,δ)-Freudenthal Kantor triple systems and the corresponding Lie (super)algebra construction.

In this paper we propose an approach to classifying a subclass of filiform Leibniz algebras. This subclass arises from the naturally graded filiform Lie algebras. We reconcile and simplify the structure constants of such a class. In the arbitrary fixed dimension case an effective algorithm to control the behavior of the structure constants under adapted transformations of basis is presented. In one particular case, the precise formulas for less than 10 dimensions are given. We provide a computer program in Maple that can be used in computations as well.

A construction of finite semifield planes of order n using irreducible semilinear transformations on a finite vector space of size n is shown to produce fewer than different nondesarguesian planes.

Let A be a semiprime superalgebra over a commutative ring F with and f:A→A a skew-supercommuting map on A. We show that f=0. This gives a version of Brešar’s theorem for superalgebras.

An algebra A is homogeneous if the automorphism group of A acts transitively on the one dimensional subspaces of A. Suppose A is a homogeneous algebra over an infinite field k. Let La denote left multiplication by any nonzero element a ∈ A. Several results are proved concerning the structure of A in terms of La. In particular, it is shown that A decomposes as the direct sum A = ker La Im La. These results are then successfully applied to the problem of classifying the infinite homogeneous algebras of small dimension.
