We study the well-posedness of solutions to the general nonlinear parabolic equations with merely integrable data in time-dependent Musielak–Orlicz spaces. With the help of a density argument, we establish the existence and uniqueness of both renormalized and entropy solutions. Moreover, we conclude that the entropy and renormalized solutions for this equation are equivalent. Our results cover a variety of problems, including those with Orlicz growth, variable exponents and double-phase growth.

In this article, we reformulate LXYZ’s $L^p$ affine Sobolev inequality chain (including Lutwak–Yang–Zhang’s $L^p$ affine Sobolev inequality and Xiao’s p-affine capacity inequality) in the setting of Grassmann manifolds. For this purpose, the Grassmannian $ p $-affine capacity is introduced.

We consider the nonlocal differential equation

which is a one-dimensional Kirchhoff-like equation with a nonlocal convolution coefficient. The novelty of our work involves allowing a variable growth term in the nonlocal coefficient. By relating the variable growth problem to a constant growth problem, we are able to deduce the existence of at least one positive solution to the differential equation when equipped with boundary data. Our methodology relies on topological fixed point theory. Because our results treat both the convex and concave regimes, together with both the variable growth and constant growth regimes, our results provide a unified framework for one-dimensional Kirchhoff-type problems.

We provide upper bounds for the Assouad spectrum $\dim_A^\theta(\mathrm{Gr}({\kern2pt}f))$ of the graph of a real-valued Hölder or Sobolev function f defined on an interval $I \subset \mathbb{R}$. We demonstrate via examples that all of our bounds are sharp. In the setting of Hölder graphs, we further provide a geometric algorithm which takes as input the graph of an $\alpha$-Hölder continuous function satisfying a matching lower oscillation condition with exponent $\alpha$ and returns the graph of a new $\alpha$-Hölder continuous function for which the Assouad $\theta$-spectrum realizes the stated upper bound for all $\theta\in (0,1)$. Examples of functions to which this algorithm applies include the continuous nowhere differentiable functions of Weierstrass and Takagi.

We study weighted Sobolev inequalities on open convex cones endowed with α-homogeneous weights satisfying a certain concavity condition. We establish a so-called reduction principle for these inequalities and characterize optimal rearrangement-invariant function spaces for these weighted Sobolev inequalities. Both optimal target and optimal domain spaces are characterized. Abstract results are accompanied by general yet concrete examples of optimal function spaces. For these examples, the class of so-called Lorentz–Karamata spaces, which contains in particular Lebesgue spaces, Lorentz spaces, and some Orlicz spaces, is used.

In this paper, we prove a new uncertainty principle for functions with radial symmetry by differentiating a radial version of the Stein–Weiss inequality. The difficulty is to prove the differentiability in the limit of the best constant that unlike the general case it is not known. We provide also an integral alternative formula for the logarithmic weight $(\log|\xi|)$ in Fourier domain.

We establish Trudinger-type inequalities for variable Riesz potentials $J_{\alpha (\cdot ), \tau }f$ of functions in Musielak–Orlicz spaces $L^{\Phi }(X)$ over bounded metric measure spaces X equipped with lower Ahlfors $Q(x)$-regular measures under conditions on $\Phi $ which are weaker than conditions in the previous paper (Houston J. Math. 48 (2022), no. 3, 479–497). We also deal with the case $\Phi $ is the double phase functional with variable exponents. As an application, Trudinger-type inequalities are discussed for Sobolev functions.

We introduce a relaxed version of the metric definition of quasiconformality that is natural also for mappings of low regularity, including $W_{\mathrm{loc}}^{1,1}({\mathbb R}^n;{\mathbb R}^n)$-mappings. Then we show on the plane that this relaxed definition can be used to prove Sobolev regularity, and that these ‘finely quasiconformal’ mappings are in fact quasiconformal.

We develop a new method suitable for establishing lower bounds on the ball measure of noncompactness of operators acting between considerably general quasinormed function spaces. This new method removes some of the restrictions oft-presented in the previous work. Most notably, the target function space need not be disjointly superadditive nor equipped with a norm. Instead, a property that is far more often at our disposal is exploited—namely the absolute continuity of the target quasinorm.

We use this new method to prove that limiting Sobolev embeddings into spaces of Brezis–Wainger type are so-called maximally noncompact, i.e. their ball measure of noncompactness is the worst possible.

This article aims to establish fractional Sobolev trace inequalities, logarithmic Sobolev trace inequalities, and Hardy trace inequalities associated with time-space fractional heat equations. The key steps involve establishing dedicated estimates for the fractional heat kernel, regularity estimates for the solution of the time-space fractional equations, and characterizing the norm of $\dot {W}^{\nu /2}_p(\mathbb {R}^n)$ in terms of the solution $u(x,t)$. Additionally, fractional logarithmic Gagliardo–Nirenberg inequalities are proven, leading to $L^p-$logarithmic Sobolev inequalities for $\dot {W}^{\nu /2}_{p}(\mathbb R^{n})$. As a byproduct, Sobolev affine trace-type inequalities for $\dot {H}^{-\nu /2}(\mathbb {R}^n)$ and local Sobolev-type trace inequalities for $Q_{\nu /2}(\mathbb {R}^n)$ are established.

We establish a new improvement of the classical Lp-Hardy inequality on the multidimensional Euclidean space in the supercritical case. Recently, in [14], there has been a new kind of development of the one-dimensional Hardy inequality. Using some radialisation techniques of functions and then exploiting symmetric decreasing rearrangement arguments on the real line, the new multidimensional version of the Hardy inequality is given. Some consequences are also discussed.

In this paper, we prove some weighted sharp inequalities of Trudinger–Moser type. The weights considered here have a logarithmic growth. These inequalities are completely new and are established in some new Sobolev spaces where the norm is a mixture of the norm of the gradient in two different Lebesgue spaces. This fact allowed us to prove a very interesting result of sharpness for the case of doubly exponential growth at infinity. Some improvements of these inequalities for the weakly convergent sequences are also proved using a version of the Concentration-Compactness principle of P.L. Lions. Taking profit of these inequalities, we treat in the last part of this work some elliptic quasilinear equation involving the weighted $(N,q)-$Laplacian operator where $1 < q < N$ and a nonlinearities enjoying a new type of exponential growth condition at infinity.

In this paper, we establish a new fractional interpolation inequality for radially symmetric measurable functions on the whole space $R^{N}$ and a new compact imbedding result about radially symmetric measurable functions. We show that the best constant in the new interpolation inequality can be achieved by a radially symmetric function. As applications of this compactness result, we study the existence of ground states of the nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equation on the whole space $R^{N}$. We also prove an existence result of standing waves and prove their orbital stability.

We provide examples of infinitesimally Hilbertian, rectifiable, Ahlfors regular metric measure spaces having pmGH-tangents that are not infinitesimally Hilbertian.

Our argument avoids applying the complicated blow-up analysis often used in the literature to deal with such sharpened inequalities.

Weight criteria for embedding of the weighted Sobolev–Lorentz spaces to the weighted Besov–Lorentz spaces built upon certain mixed norms and iterated rearrangement are investigated. This gives an improvement of some known Sobolev embedding. We achieve the result based on different norm inequalities for the weighted Besov–Lorentz spaces defined in some mixed norms.

The main result is that the ellipticity and the Fredholm property of a $\Psi $DO acting on Sobolev spaces in the Weyl-Hörmander calculus are equivalent when the Hörmander metric is geodesically temperate and its associated Planck function vanishes at infinity. The proof is essentially related to the following result that we prove for geodesically temperate Hörmander metrics: If $\lambda \mapsto a_{\lambda }\in S(1,g)$ is a $\mathcal {C}^N$, $0\leq N\leq \infty $, map such that each $a_{\lambda }^w$ is invertible on $L^2$, then the mapping $\lambda \mapsto b_{\lambda }\in S(1,g)$, where $b_{\lambda }^w$ is the inverse of $a_{\lambda }^w$, is again of class $\mathcal {C}^N$. Additionally, assuming also the strong uncertainty principle for the metric, we obtain a Fedosov-Hörmander formula for the index of an elliptic operator. At the very end, we give an example to illustrate our main result.

The purpose of this paper is to characterize the entire solutions of the homogeneous Helmholtz equation (solutions in ℝd) arising from the Fourier extension operator of distributions in Sobolev spaces of the sphere $H^\alpha (\mathbb {S}^{d-1}),$ with α ∈ ℝ. We present two characterizations. The first one is written in terms of certain L2-weighted norms involving real powers of the spherical Laplacian. The second one is in the spirit of the classical description of the Herglotz wave functions given by P. Hartman and C. Wilcox. For α > 0 this characterization involves a multivariable square function evaluated in a vector of entire solutions of the Helmholtz equation, while for α < 0 it is written in terms of an spherical integral operator acting as a fractional integration operator. Finally, we also characterize all the solutions that are the Fourier extension operator of distributions in the sphere.
