We use a special tiling for the hyperbolic d-space $\mathbb {H}^d$ for $d=2,3,4$ to construct an (almost) explicit isomorphism between the Lipschitz-free space $\mathcal {F}(\mathbb {H}^d)$ and $\mathcal {F}(P)\oplus \mathcal {F}(\mathcal {N})$, where P is a polytope in $\mathbb {R}^d$ and $\mathcal {N}$ a net in $\mathbb {H}^d$ coming from the tiling. This implies that the spaces $\mathcal {F}(\mathbb {H}^d)$ and $\mathcal {F}(\mathbb {R}^d)\oplus \mathcal {F}(\mathcal {M})$ are isomorphic for every net $\mathcal {M}$ in $\mathbb {H}^d$. In particular, we obtain that, for $d=2,3,4$, $\mathcal {F}(\mathbb {H}^d)$ has a Schauder basis. Moreover, using a similar method, we also give an explicit isomorphism between $\mathrm {Lip}(\mathbb {H}^d)$ and $\mathrm {Lip}(\mathbb {R}^d)$.

We prove a local gradient estimate for positive eigenfunctions of the $\mathcal {L}$-operator on conformal solitons given by a general conformal vector field. As an application, we obtain a Liouville type theorem for $\mathcal {L} u=0$, which improves the one of Li and Sun [‘Gradient estimate for the positive solutions of $\mathcal Lu = 0$ and $\mathcal Lu ={\partial u}/{\partial t}$ on conformal solitons’, Acta Math. Sin. (Engl. Ser.) 37(11) (2021), 1768–1782]. We also consider applications where manifolds are special conformal solitons and obtain a better Liouville type theorem in the case of self-shrinkers.

We propose a notion of multi-scale stability conditions with the goal of providing a smooth compactification of the quotient of the space of projectivized Bridgeland stability conditions by the group of autoequivalence. For the case of the 3CY category associated with the $A_n$-quiver, this goal is achieved by defining a topology and complex structure that relies on a plumbing construction.

We compare this compactification to the multi-scale compactification of quadratic differentials and briefly indicate why even for the Kronecker quiver, this notion needs refinement to provide a full compactification.

Inspired by Adler’s idea on VC minimal theories [1], we introduce VC-minimal complexity. We show that for any $N\in \mathbb {N}^{>0}$, there is $k_N>0$ such that for any finite bipartite graph $(X,Y;E)$ with VC-minimal complexity $< N$, there exist $X'\subseteq X$, $Y'\subseteq Y$ with $|X'|\geq k_N |X|$, $|Y'|\geq k_N |Y|$ such that $X'\times Y' \subseteq E$ or $X'\times Y'\cap E=\emptyset $.

For any prime p and S a p-group isomorphic to a Sylow p-subgroup of a rank $2$ simple group of Lie type in characteristic p, we determine all saturated fusion systems supported on S up to isomorphism.

We prove several results concerning the existence of surfaces of section for the geodesic flows of closed orientable Riemannian surfaces. The surfaces of section $\Sigma $ that we construct are either Birkhoff sections, which means that they intersect every sufficiently long orbit segment of the geodesic flow, or at least they have some hyperbolic components in $\partial \Sigma $ as limit sets of the orbits of the geodesic flow that do not return to $\Sigma $. In order to prove these theorems, we provide a study of configurations of simple closed geodesics of closed orientable Riemannian surfaces, which may have independent interest. Our arguments are based on the curve shortening flow.

Complicated option pricing models attract much attention in financial industries, as they produce relatively better accurate values by taking into account more realistic assumptions such as market liquidity, uncertain volatility and so forth. We propose a new hybrid method to accurately explore the behaviour of the nonlinear pricing model in illiquid markets, which is important in financial risk management. Our method is based on the Newton iteration technique and the Fréchet derivative to linearize the model. The linearized equation is then discretized by a differential quadrature method in space and a quadratic trapezoid rule in time. It is observed through computations that the accurate solutions for the model emerge using very few grid points and time elements, compared with the finite difference method in the literature. Furthermore, this method also helps to avoid consideration of the convergence issues of the Newton approach applied to the nonlinear algebraic system containing many unknowns at each time step if an implicit method is used in time discretization. It is important to note that the Fréchet derivative supports to enhance the convergence order of the proposed iterative scheme.

In this paper, a new multivariate counting process model (called Multivariate Poisson Generalized Gamma Process) is developed and its main properties are studied. Some basic stochastic properties of the number of events in the new multivariate counting process are initially derived. It is shown that this new multivariate counting process model includes the multivariate generalized Pólya process as a special case. The dependence structure of the multivariate counting process model is discussed. Some results on multivariate stochastic comparisons are also obtained.

We study the quasi-ergodicity of compact strong Feller semigroups $U_t$, $t> 0$, on $L^2(M,\mu )$; we assume that M is a locally compact Polish space equipped with a locally finite Borel measue $\mu $. The operators $U_t$ are ultracontractive and positivity preserving, but not necessarily self-adjoint or normal. We are mainly interested in those cases where the measure $\mu $ is infinite and the semigroup is not intrinsically ultracontractive. We relate quasi-ergodicity on $L^p(M,\mu )$ and uniqueness of the quasi-stationary measure with the finiteness of the heat content of the semigroup (for large values of t) and with the progressive uniform ground state domination property. The latter property is equivalent to a variant of quasi-ergodicity which progressively propagates in space as $t \uparrow \infty $; the propagation rate is determined by the decay of . We discuss several applications and illustrate our results with examples. This includes a complete description of quasi-ergodicity for a large class of semigroups corresponding to non-local Schrödinger operators with confining potentials.

Let f and g be two distinct normalized primitive holomorphic cusp forms of even integral weight $k_{1}$ and $k_{2}$ for the full modular group $SL(2,\mathbb {Z})$, respectively. Suppose that $\lambda _{f\times f\times f}(n)$ and $\lambda _{g\times g\times g}(n)$ are the n-th Dirichlet coefficient of the triple product L-functions $L(s,f\times f\times f)$ and $L(s,g\times g\times g)$. In this paper, we consider the sign changes of the sequence $\{\lambda _{f\times f\times f}(n)\}_{n\geq 1}$ and $\{\lambda _{f\times f\times f}(n)\lambda _{g\times g\times g}(n)\}_{n\geq 1}$ in short intervals and establish quantitative results for the number of sign changes for $n \leq x$, which improve the previous results.

We prove a comparison theorem between Greenberg–Benois $\mathcal {L}$-invariants and Fontaine–Mazur $\mathcal {L}$-invariants. Such a comparison theorem supplies an affirmative answer to a speculation of Besser–de Shalit.

We investigate the set $T_{n}$ of the possible number of triangles in a graph on n vertices. The first main result says that every natural number less than $\binom {n}{3} - (\sqrt {2}+o(1) )n^{3/2} $ belongs to $T_{n}$. On the other hand, we show that there is a number $m = \binom {n}{3}-( \sqrt {2} +o(1))n^{3/2}$ that is not a member of $T_{n}$. In addition, we prove that there are two interlacing sequences $\binom {n}{3} - ( \sqrt {2} + o(1) )n^{3/2} = c_{1} \le d_{1} \le c_{2} \le d_{2} \le \cdots \le c_{s} \le d_{s} = \binom {n}{3}$ with $| c_{t} - d_{t}| = n-2-\binom {s - t +1}{2}$ such that $( c_{t}, d_{t} ) \cap T_{n} = \emptyset $ for all t. Moreover, we obtain a generalisation of these results for the set of the possible number of copies of a connected graph H in a graph on n vertices.

We study a certain class of arithmetic functions that appeared in Klurman’s classification of $\pm 1$ multiplicative functions with bounded partial sums; c.f., Comp. Math. 153(2017), 2017, no. 8, 1622–1657. These functions are periodic and $1$-pretentious. We prove that if $f_1$ and $f_2$ belong to this class, then $\sum _{n\leq x}(f_1\ast f_2)(n)=\Omega (x^{1/4})$. This confirms a conjecture by the first author. As a byproduct of our proof, we studied the correlation between $\Delta (x)$ and $\Delta (\theta x)$, where $\theta $ is a fixed real number. We prove that there is a nontrivial correlation when $\theta $ is rational, and a decorrelation when $\theta $ is irrational. Moreover, if $\theta $ has a finite irrationality measure, then we can make it quantitative this decorrelation in terms of this measure.

We study the exact Hausdorff and packing dimensions of the prime Cantor set, $\Lambda _P$, which comprises the irrationals whose continued fraction entries are prime numbers. We prove that the Hausdorff measure of the prime Cantor set cannot be finite and positive with respect to any sufficiently regular dimension function, thus negatively answering a question of Mauldin and Urbański (1999) and Mauldin (2013) for this class of dimension functions. By contrast, under a reasonable number-theoretic conjecture we prove that the packing measure of the conformal measure on the prime Cantor set is in fact positive and finite with respect to the dimension function $\psi (r) = r^\delta \log ^{-2\delta }\log (1/r)$, where $\delta $ is the dimension (conformal, Hausdorff, and packing) of the prime Cantor set.

Let ${\mathbb K}$ be an algebraically bounded structure, and let T be its theory. If T is model complete, then the theory of ${\mathbb K}$ endowed with a derivation, denoted by $T^{\delta }$, has a model completion. Additionally, we prove that if the theory T is stable/NIP then the model completion of $T^{\delta }$ is also stable/NIP. Similar results hold for the theory with several derivations, either commuting or non-commuting.

We study a maximal average along a family of curves $\{(t,m(x_1)\gamma(t)):t\in [-r,r]\}$, where $\gamma|_{[0,\infty)}$ is a convex function and m is a measurable function. Under the assumption of the doubling property of $\gamma'$ and $1\leqslant m(x_1)\leqslant 2$, we prove the $L^p(\mathbb{R}^2)$ boundedness of the maximal average. As a corollary, we obtain the pointwise convergence of the average in r > 0 without any size assumption for a measurable m.

We show that, for any prime p, there exist absolutely simple abelian varieties over $\mathbb {Q}$ with arbitrarily large p-torsion in their Tate-Shafarevich groups. To prove this, we construct explicit $\mu _p$-covers of Jacobians of curves of the form $y^p = x(x-1)(x-a)$ which violate the Hasse principle. In the appendix, Tom Fisher explains how to interpret our proof in terms of a Cassels-Tate pairing.

We study a signaling game between an employer and a potential employee, where the employee has private information regarding their production capacity. At the initial stage, the employee communicates a salary claim, after which the true production capacity is gradually revealed to the employer as the unknown drift of a Brownian motion representing the revenues generated by the employee. Subsequently, the employer has the possibility to choose a time to fire the employee in case the estimated production capacity falls short of the salary. In this setup, we use filtering and optimal stopping theory to derive an equilibrium in which the employee provides a randomized salary claim and the employer uses a threshold strategy in terms of the conditional probability for the high production capacity. The analysis is robust in the sense that various extensions of the basic model can be solved using the same methodology, including cases with positive firing costs, incomplete information about an individual’s own type, as well as an additional interview phase.
