LMS Integration
LTI Integration
Higher Education from Cambridge University Press supports LTI 1.1 integration with your LMS system. The integration allows you to:-
Further information about Deep Links and their use is also available.
We provide some general information on this page detailing LTI Integration and how to setup links.
We also have specific configuration information for popular LMS system below to assist in setup. You can click on the LMS instructions links at the top of this page or below the main information.
The information below will outline how your LMS system can be configured to take full advantage of this feature.
Setting up LTI integration
You can request LTI integration by contacting our technical support or by submitting a diagnostics contact form . You will be supplied with a Secret, Key and URL to use with your LMS. Below is a non-functioning example:
Formatting content links
All LTI links that you embed in your content need to be formatted correctly. You can link to Textbooks or to Chapters.
You can also copy LTI links directly from our book landing pages via a the Copy LTI Link button.
Book URL
To link to a book you need to include a specific URL to the title.
The format would be
https://cambridge.org/highereducaiton/lti/[productidfrombooklandingpage ]
So for example:
https://cambridge.org/highereducation/lti/EFEDBED0B84359DFA281A9079047846F
You can obtain the ID from the book URL as shown below.
Chapter URL
For Chapters links you will need to obtain the Deep Link for the required chapter.
You need to be registered as an Organisation account admin or an Instructor to see the deep link.
This will give you the deep link such as this example below.
https://www.cambridge.org/highereducation/api/ereader/f1454263-6ab9-40e1-bd85-c2dd4290dafe
Then append the ID of the title to the LTI URL as shown below:
https://cambridge.org/highereducation/lti/f1454263-6ab9-40e1-bd85-c2dd4290dafe
You can of course, use a deep link directly as a link to the content without converting it to a LTI URL. This might be useful in a PDF document or non-LMS website.
Access to content
When a student clicks on an LTI link there are three possible journeys the student will be taken on depending on what access is available for the title in question. These journeys are all facilitated by an interim page to help guide the student appropriately.
The student has access to the content via their institution but we cannot detect an account on Higher Education from Cambridge University Press
In this situation, the user will be offered a chance to create an account and move into the fully functional Cambridge spiral ereader or if they prefer, they can access the content without creating an account with reduced features. Links to explain the different in the features are also present on this page to help in decision making.
The student has no access to the content either personally or via their institution.
In this case they will be offered ecommerce options for digital and print, as well as signposted to where they can redeem an access code if they have been provided with one.
