In this chapter, we provide an introduction to the use of the Ansys and Workbench programs in modeling and solving 2D and 3D linear static analysis problems. We start by an introduction to the use of Ansys followed by a project application: two-dimensional bracket analysis. Then, we give a brief introduction to the use of Workbench followed by two examples: the first is a two-dimensional bracket analysis and the second is a three-dimensional tee-junction analysis. The intention is to give the reader a quick start in using and exploring the programs. In-depth knowledge and experience with the programs comes only with practice. Chapter 3, “Modeling Aspects”, has many problems for practicing and exploring more of the programs’ capabilities.
