Summary

The data collected in formative and process evaluations can come in either or both of two overarching types: quantitative data and qualitative data. This chapter will begin with a brief discussion of those two types of data. Because quantitative data are more likely to comprise the bulk of most evaluation reports, and because the methods for analyzing and reporting them are more systematic, the chapter will start with a focus on quantitative data analysis methods and will follow with a focus on qualitative data analysis methods.
