Summary

Assessing whether a program has a successful outcome requires being able to identify and select the most appropriate indicators of outcome that you will measure and then defining those indicators in measurable terms. The process of doing so, however, can be challenging. This chapter will prepare you for the challenge. To begin, you should examine whether any funding contracts specify any intended outcomes. Outcome objectives might also be specified in the program’s mission statement. But you’ll have to decide what a program’s mission statement really means.
